What does your job involve and what is your typical workday like?

I create automated intralogistic solutions that help our customers achieve their business goals. I keep in touch with my customers by phone and email, but also travel to meet them personally. This year I've had about 50-70 travel days. During a typical workday I am either visiting customer, traveling to or from the customer site or at Rocla's office in Järvenpää. In the office I study the material provided by the customer, based on which I create a solution proposal. During customer visits we go through the customer's process and think about the best solution that is right for their needs and challenges. We discuss technical details of the system and also the commercial side of the solution. Due to time zone differences I sometimes work outside the so called business hours also.

What is most challenging about your job?

The challenge is the communication between both customer and our cooperation partners. It is important that we understand the customer's need and that the customer understands what we communicate to them. What works well in saleswork here in Finland, may not work in France for instance, and vice versa.  

What’s the best thing about your job?

I like the diversity and change. It is very interesting to interact with people from different cultures and from different industries. Rocla AGV customers are located around the world, for instance in USA, China, France, just to mention a few countries. I’m also excited to have some customers and partners that I can practice my Chinese skills with.

How do you spend your free time?

I like to explore the nature, it gives a good balance to work. I do fishing, orienteering and jogging.
